Get a Commercial Driver's License

In order to be a commercial truck driver, you need to be licensed. Having a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) will make it easier for you to find employment. If you do not have a CDL, you can find an employer that is willing to help you get it.

When deciding on a CDL, there are three types to choose from. A trailer or two-axle semi-trailer driver needs a Class A CDL. You can haul a truck with a trailer and cargo over 26,000 pounds.
